I'm so happy that Jolanta found this lovely painting ....because it's a first look for me...and wow...I'm so excited to share this beauty and the great story of arrowheads. My brother collected them and we always kept an eye out for them when hiking....but they were hard to find but considered treasures. Love the art you created to showcase these wonderful artifacts, Dave. You need another gold medal for this work! F/L+++

Dave Farrow replied:

Nancy thank you so much dear lady

Dave, I love this image! Oh, yes, indeed; it is beautiful; the forms and colors are astonishing. And it brings back vividly my days studying archaeology in college courses. Artist's Description

Since mans first appearance in North America, Ohio has been a hot bed of prehistoric activity. For 60 years I have hunted the miles and miles of farm fields in Tuscarawas County and surrounding areas for projectile points, more often referred to as arrowheads. Close by our area, situated in the hills of Licking and Coshoton Counties are the exceedingly beautiful flints found in the deposits of Flint Ridge State Memorial and the fine black flint of the Warsaw deposit in Coshocton County. Untold numbers of prehistoric people passed through or resided in this area largely because of these readily available raw materials. Flint knapping was an art form. The aboriginals chipped flint for weapons and tools. Their very lives depended on their ability to knap flint. Curiously, it appears a number of flint pieces show no signs of use. Their purpose remains a mystery. This painting depicts some of the wild and beautiful color combinations found in Flint Ridge material. These are merely a few exa...

About Dave Farrow

Dave Farrow

It is with a very heavy and sad heart that I must inform you of Dave's passing on November 13th 2018. He loved being part of this site with all of his heart. He enjoyed reading and responding to all his comments and making comments to his other artists buddies as well. I just wanted to make sure you all know why he is not responding to your comments. Not only have I lost my husband of 40 years, my best friend, my soul mate but the world has lost a wonderful person, artist and soul as well. Sincerely, Lorraine Farrow Don`t let the bio photograph scare you. Seven other veterans and myself grow pony tails to donate to wigs for kids with cancer.
