Artist's Description
Somewhere on the edge of the Iron Triangle in Vietnam lies a small village that is suspected of harboring enemy fighters. American soldiers have set an ambush a short distance away along a fence row at the edge of the jungle. Time to light `em up. Memories from a time long ago.
About Dave Farrow
It is with a very heavy and sad heart that I must inform you of Dave's passing on November 13th 2018. He loved being part of this site with all of his heart. He enjoyed reading and responding to all his comments and making comments to his other artists buddies as well. I just wanted to make sure you all know why he is not responding to your comments. Not only have I lost my husband of 40 years, my best friend, my soul mate but the world has lost a wonderful person, artist and soul as well. Sincerely, Lorraine Farrow Don`t let the bio photograph scare you. Seven other veterans and myself grow pony tails to donate to wigs for kids with cancer. Wow, dear Dave, as you read the description you are imagining the situation in the painting, which really takes you there. An exceptional work of art, immersive and as vivid as (I guess) the memory itself. Magnificent piece! L/F/T

Hi, Dave -- at first glance this seems just like a beautiful and serene tropical village; a lovely landscape, abundant trees and flowers and verdant grasslands. Then the true meaning of this fabulous work of art hits home and the impact is profound. So well done, indeed. L/F

David, I just finished watching "Vietnam" documentary by Ken Burns tonight. (it took me a week of broken hours so I could stay attentive) then I ran across your page when I searched for some of the iconic photography that was used in the film. I was a young girl when you were fighting, thank you so much for your service. I weep in spirit when I think of the turmoil you and all our armed services endured and glad you are here to share your art and soulful creations here today. This is meaningful work, your story must be told so we can learn from the folly of the tragedy of war. I pray that now all serenity and peace will embrace you as often as possible. Great work and important work...F/L
Dave Farrow replied:
Nancy, I have watched "Vietnam" and it was the very best documentary I have seen to date. I can`t thank you enough for your incredible comment....pray for peace

If I could have a single wish, I’d wish that we could undo all of the horrible things that wars bring and put in its place a place of tranquility and peace that is eternal like heaven! This is such a beautiful place, Dave, of tranquility before the storm...my wish for you and other soldiers is for healing from the war-torn memories and the ability to go to a special place in your mind whenever the storm threatens! Thank you for your service, Dave! May God bless you and your family! L/F/FB!
Dave Farrow replied:
Kimberlee, thank you for your wonderful comment...you are a real sweetie

I know that I have commented already, but the story behind this work commands my attention every time that I see it. It is no secret that I am always put somehow at peace when I view your gallery Dave. What really draws me closer in is the understanding that you are sharing something intensely personal with many of these images. While many of the people who were a part of these experiences may no longer be with you, you are here to share the tales that lie behind your eyes. This adds so much more depth to what I am looking at. I feel that I am drawn deeper than the paint... closer than the panel. I am happy that you are here to share these tales with us Dave.
Dave Farrow replied:
John, thank you bro. coming from an artist of your caliber it`s quite an honor

This is such a wonderful painting Dave! I'm sorry that you have to have memories of this type! We all hope that war will become a thing of the past! You deserve the gold medal sir!!! Someday I want to meet you and buy you a nice ice cold beer! And as many of them as you want ! I know that that won't cover all the hardship that you had to deal with in the 60s and 70s but it's the least of what I could do for you! You're a wonderful friend with a wonderful heart! LF
Dave Farrow replied:
Marvin what can I say bro, you`re one of the best....in more ways than one...thank you my man
